Aim Controls can help you with a variety of industrial laser system cutting applications.
Aim has high quality CO2, YAG and UV lasers to evaluate your laser cutting application. Contact an Aim engineer to discuss your particular application.
Plastics:
Aim has experience with cutting plastics such as acrylic, PETG, and polycarbonate. These materials are typically cut with a CO2 laser of 100 to 300 watts of power. Polycarbonate (aka "Lexan") can be particularly difficult to cut because of the fumes and particulate matter that are emitted. Aim has developed several unique techniques for solving these problems so that you finished piece does not have to go through a separate cleaning process. Edge quality for most plastics is a matter of getting the right laser power and using high quality optics. The right combination will depend upon the particular material and thickness.
Metal:
Different metals require different types of lasers for cutting. Aim Controls has worked with a variety of metals, including steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, and others. CO2 can be used for certain steels, while a YAG is often best for other metals. Certain applications and metals may require a UV laser.
Textiles:
Aim has considerable experience with laser cutting of textiles, including nylon, polyester, velcro, wool (felt), and other materials like cotton blends. These materials are typically cut with a CO2 laser. The major factors are sufficient laser power and laser beam quality for the particular application.
Other Materials:
Aim has worked with wood, paper, and a host of other materials in laser cutting applications. These are mostly done with CO2 lasers, but occasionally a YAG laser or a UV laser may be needed. |
